Time intensive progress
A couples intensive offers the chance to step out of the usual routine and devote focused, uninterrupted time to your relationship over the course of several hours to a couple of days.
Rather than trying to address painful or entrenched patterns in 60-minute increments, intensive sessions create the time and space to really slow things down and get to the bottom of what is happening between you. This allows us to stay in the realm of deep, meaningful change without interruption, distraction, or a strict time schedule.
Longer sessions allow us to move beyond simply describing the problem and spend more time working with it directly. This work gives us room to stay with difficult conversations long enough to get somewhere new, rather than having to stop just as something important is emerging.
Who is it for?
Intensives are for couples who:
-
Feel stuck in the same painful patterns and want more traction than weekly therapy has been able to provide
-
Are in a period of high conflict, disconnection, or rupture and need dedicated time to get back on track
-
Have scheduling, travel, or life circumstances that make regular weekly therapy difficult to maintain
-
Are highly motivated to work on the relationship
What to expect
Before the intensive, I’ll meet with you to understand what’s happening in your relationship, clarify your goals, and determine whether this format makes sense for what you need. Together, we’ll identify the areas that need the most attention and create a plan, including how long we'll need to accomplish your goals.
Throughout the intensive, I will check-in on how we are meeting your goals and adjust focus as needed. Before we conclude I will help you decide next steps, if any, that will help you maintain your progress. This could include a follow-up session or sessions if needed.
Next steps
Intensives are scheduled separately from ongoing weekly sessions and are tailored to the needs of each couple. If you’d like to explore whether this might be a good option for your relationship, please reach out to set up a consultation.
