About Me
I specialize in helping couples break out of the painful patterns that keep them stuck - whether that’s constant conflict, emotional distance, or feeling like you’re having the same talk over and over again - and rekindling the closeness they desire.
I use evidence-based approaches to couples therapy, with training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Imago Relationship Therapy, and Discernment Counseling. I've worked in a number of different settings before starting my private practice over 11 years ago and have trained in or used a variety of modalities over the years, including trauma-informed disciplines and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I've seen a little bit of everything, which lends itself well to the variety of life experience couples bring to therapy.
With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, I've learned what works in helping people access their feelings and communicate effectively.
I understand the struggle
Not only am I a therapist, but I'm a husband and father. I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to manage work, parenthood, and a relationship. I know that expert tips and advice you read in a book or hear online sound great (and they often are) until you start running into exceptions in real-time and those strategies no longer seem to apply.
There are no cookie-cutter solutions. But I can help you apply what we know from the science of relationships to your particular life and situation. All while providing an understanding and compassionate space that considers each individual's perspective and valuing the unique qualities and strengths of your relationship.
My approach is client-centered and focused on change.
I'm a believer in the power of attachments and the role emotions play in understanding and healing conflict. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck and work toward rebuilding trust, improving communication, and creating a more secure, connected relationship. We will practice new ways of communicating in-session so you can bring that experience home to practice between sessions.
